Birthday Goth
This isn’t quite what I wore on my birthday this year, but it’s the outfit I put together the week before my birthday, before I noticed the fishnet gloves from Party USA were uncomfortable and my tights had a hole in the toe and decided I didn’t want to pack my Double Deckers with me to bring to San Diego for San Diego Comic-Con.
The occult-looking t-shirt is for the comic book series The Wicked + The Divine from Image Comics. It’s about a pantheon of gods who are born onto the earth every century, live as rockstars for two years, and then die. As a fan of both mythology and music, I obviously am thrilled by the series on multiple levels. The shirt is also one of my few articles of comic book merchandise that actually matches my daily fashion aesthetic.
If you look closely, however, you’ll find that it’s not the only nerd item I’m wearing; my earrings feature the wolf from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and my necklace is the flamel from Fullmetal Alchemist.
I’m happy to say that so far this outfit, or rather the variation I ended up wearing, has been successfully bringing me a #NoneMoreGoth 25th year of my life.
